Turkey's Chickpea Exports Sustain Firm Tone
PANAMA - Jan 20/25 - SNS -- Exports of chickpeas from Turkey posted decent increases, moving compared to the previous month in November, trade data from Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) shows.
Shipments reached 36,068 metric tons (MT) in the month, up 14% from the 31,546 MT exported the previous month. Movement so far total 326,112 MT, versus 253,353 in the same period the previous calendar year.
The most recent trade data showed Algeria was number one consumer, taking 7,762 MT. Iraq was the second most important destination receiving 7,403 MT, followed by Jordan at 3,627 MT.
Turkey's Chickpea Imports Maintain Soft Tone
PANAMA - Jan 20/25 - SNS -- Turkey's imports of chickpeas during November sank versus the previous month, judging from data from Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).
Total imports during the month reached 23,361 metric tons (MT), down 28% from the previous month's total of 32,352. So far imports have reached 252,595 MT, down from 287,852 during the last calendar year.
The latest movement data revealed Russia was most important export origin, shipping 9,563 MT. Mexico was the second most important exporter supplying 5,811 MT, followed by Kazakhstan at 3,532 MT.
