WASHINGTON - Jun 10/10 - SNS --Durum wheat production in Arizona and California is forecast at a collective 19.7 million bushels, up 4% from May 1 but down 33% from last year, according to the USDA.
If realized, this will be a record high yield in Arizona and tie a record in California. As of May 30, Durum harvest in Arizona was 7% complete, 1 point behind the 5-year average.
Cool weather during the growing season delayed crop development and the start of California's Durum wheat harvest by about 10 days. No major quality or disease issues have been reported in California.
