MADISON - Jul 23/15 - SNS -- Dairy market conditions in western and eastern Europe were reviewed in the latest report on the sector released by the USDA today.
WESTERN AND EASTERN EUROPE WESTERN OVERVIEW: An intense heat wave that covered much of Europe's major dairy producing regions has lowered milk deliveries in most of the regions in Europe. Drought conditions are developing in some areas of France which is likely to affect forages for dairy herds. Current forecasts indicate the return of high temperatures is likely as another heat wave is in the forecast in the upcoming week. Preliminary data indicates EU 28 milk production is above year ago levels, with above average increases in Ireland and the Netherlands. EASTERN OVERVIEW: Preliminary milk production estimates for May indicate Poland's production is above year ago levels. Eastern EU milk production was adversely affected by the recent heat wave that covered most of the continent. 0930c eric.graf@ams.usda.gov 608.557.7004 USDA/AMS/Dairy Market News, Madison, Wisconsin Dairy Market News website: www.ams.usda.gov/dairymarketnews Dairy Market News database portal: http://www.marketnews.usda.gov/mnp/da-home
