MELBOURNE - Oct 1/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure will continue to weak and track off the northeastern coastline, while a high pressure system to the west transitions into the Tasman Sea. On Friday, this high pressure system will slowly move east stretching a ridge across the state bring settled conditions. Conditions are then forecast to warm on the weekend as the ridge remains across the state and a cold front gradually approaches from the west. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayClearing showers and storms in the northeast into the evening. West to southwesterly winds, tending northeasterly about parts of the coast. Surf conditions may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing and swimming.Friday 2 OctoberDry and mostly sunny. Daytime temperatures above average, most notably across the southwest and southeast. North to northeast winds, freshening along the coast in the afternoon. Surf conditions along the northern half of the coast in the morning may be more powerful than they appear and are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing and swimming.Saturday 3 OctoberDry and mostly sunny. Hot in the far west. Daytime temperatures above average, tending well above average in the west and southeast. Northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh across the far west during the day.Sunday 4 OctoberDry and mostly sunny, apart from the chance of a shower near the Victorian border. Possible raised dust in the far west. Daytime temperatures well above average, particularly in the west. North to northwesterly winds, fresh and gusty across the west and south. Fresh northeasterly sea breezes along the coast during the afternoon.Monday 5 OctoberShowers across the south, most likely about the southern ranges. Dry and mostly sunny in the northeast. Daytime temperatures above average in the central and northeast, shifting below average in the south and southwest.
