Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 1/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over the north of the State will be centred near Broken Hill Thursday morning and will then move eastwards. A trough of low pressure will reach the far west coast Friday evening and move across the west and south of the State on Saturday and extend into the far northeast on Sunday. A northwest cloud-band is expected to bring areas of rain across the west and south on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMorning fog patches over the northern agricultural area, Eyre Peninsula and south of the pastoral districts. A dry day. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north and west. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening over the Nullarbor Plain in the evening.Friday 2 OctoberDry apart from possible afternoon and evening thunderstorms in the northwest, but with little or no rainfall. A warm day in the south grading to hot in the west and far north. Moderate to fresh and gusty north to northwesterly winds, strong at times during the day in the west bringing areas of raised dust, before shifting milder southwest to southerly over the Nullarbor Plain in the evening.Saturday 3 OctoberCloud increasing with a slight to medium chance of showers in the west and south, increasing to a high chance of rain later about western and southern coasts. Possible thunderstorms in the west. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh and gusty northeast to northwesterly winds bringing areas of raised dust inland, ahead of a cooler, moderate to fresh southerly change extending across the west and south.Sunday 4 October
Hot with fresh to strong northerly winds and areas of raised dust in the northeast. Cooler with widespread areas of rain across the remainder, easing to showers later in the west. Possible morning thunderstorms in the far northwest. Fresh and gusty south to southwest winds, extending throughout except the far northeast corner.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Sunday are expected to be 15 to 30 mm in the west and south though only 5 to 15 mm over the Nullarbor Plain. 5 to 15 mm over the Riverland, Flinders and west and south of the North East Pastoral, grading to less than 2 mm northeast of about Marree.
Monday until WednesdayA slight to medium chance of showers across most of the State throughout the period, tending to rain about parts of the Pastoral and Flinders districts on Monday. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Thursday.Product IDS10033

This will occur between 17:00 and 21:00 (ACDT).
Within this 4-hour window there will be an outage between 2.5 and 3.0 hours affecting observations from Automatic Weather Stations.
