Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 1/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over NSW will continue to move eastwards. A trough of low pressure will reach the far west coast Friday evening and move across the west and south of the State on Saturday, then extend into the far northeast on Sunday. A northwest cloud-band is expected to bring areas of rain across the west and south on Sunday and over the northeast on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayDry and clear. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh at times over the Nullarbor Plain in the evening.Friday 2 OctoberDry apart from possible afternoon and evening thunderstorms in the northwest, but with little or no rainfall. A warm day in the south grading to hot in the west and far north. Moderate to fresh and gusty north to northwesterly winds, strong at times during the day in the west with possible areas of raised dust, then shifting milder southwest to southerly over the Nullarbor Plain in the evening.Saturday 3 OctoberCloud increasing with a slight to medium chance of showers in the west and south, increasing to a high to very high chance of rain about western and southern coasts in the late afternoon and evening, extending into the west of the North West Pastoral later in the evening. Possible thunderstorms in the west. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh and gusty northeast to northwesterly winds with possible areas of raised dust inland, ahead of a cooler, moderate to fresh southerly change extending across the west and south.Sunday 4 OctoberHot with fresh to strong northerly winds and possible areas of raised dust in the northeast. Cooler with widespread areas of rain across the remainder, contracting eastwards during the day. Possible morning thunderstorms in the far northwest. Fresh and gusty south to southwest winds, extending throughout except the far northeast corner.Monday 5 October
A slight to medium chance of showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, tending to rain about the North East Pastoral and the northeast of the Flinders district. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Monday are expected to be 15 to 30 mm in the over most of the west and south, easing to 5 to 15 mm over the Riverland, Flinders and west of the North East Pastoral districts. 2 to 10 mm is forecast over the Nullarbor Plain region and the remainder of the North East Pastoral district, southwest of about Moomba, with less than 2 mm in the far northeast.
Tuesday until ThursdayA slight to medium chance of showers over most parts of the State grading to a high chance about the Lower South East district. Cool to mild, grading to warm in the northeast. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, becoming southeast to northeasterly on Wednesday then generally southwest to northwesterly on Thursday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
