Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 1/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system Over NSW will move over the Tasman Sea during Friday as a low pressure trough forms over the Bight. The trough is forecast to enter southwestern Victoria on Saturday before moving slowly east across the remainder of the State during the rest of the weekend, clearing the east of the State later on Monday, as a new high pressure Ridge strengthens south of the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMostly clear with light to moderate northwesterly winds.Friday 2 OctoberIsolated morning fog in the northeast. A dry, warm and sunny day with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, strong and gusty at times across the south and about the alpine peaks.Fire Danger -  Low to moderateSaturday 3 OctoberIsolated showers developing over the southwest in the morning, becoming widespread and tending to rain at night. The chance of a thunderstorm over the southwest during the afternoon. A mostly sunny morning before cloud increases from the west during the afternoon. Warm to hot with fresh north to northwesterly winds, strong and gusty in the south and about the alpine peaks, shifting cooler southwesterly over western and central parts during the afternoon and evening.Sunday 4 OctoberRain over the southwest, extending to western and central districts during the afternoon, with isolated showers developing through the east. The chance of a thunderstorm over north central areas during the afternoon. A warm and mostly sunny day across the north and east, becoming mostly cloudy later on. Mild and cloudy in the southwest. Moderate northerly winds tending south to southwesterly from the west during the afternoon.Monday 5 OctoberScattered showers, tending isolated across western and central inland areas during the day and gradually clearing by evening. Rain areas across central parts early on, contracting to the eastern ranges and easing by the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres late in the day. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate south to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
