MELBOURNE - Oct 5/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred south of WA will move east to reach the Tasman sea on Wednesday. An upper level trough over the west of the State will move slowly east across SA during the next few days. An associated low pressure system will develop near the eastern border on Wednesday and then move south as it deepens to be over Tasmania later Thursday. Another high pressure system will develop over the north of the State later Wednesday or on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayCool to cold at first over the agricultural area with possible light frost patches about the Lower and Upper South East districts. A slight to medium chance of showers about far southern and western coasts, and southern parts of the Peninsulas. A high to very high chance of rain about much of the Pastoral districts and Flinders north of about Tarcoola to Hawker, tending to a medium chance of showers over the far west. A generally cool day with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.Wednesday 7 OctoberA medium to high chance of showers, except in the far west, increasing to a high to very high chance of rain developing over central and eastern parts. Possible thunderstorms over the North East Pastoral district. Rain and showers contracting southeastwards during the afternoon or evening, to be confined to the agricultural area late evening. Generally cool with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, although south to southeasterly over the agricultural area in the morning and early afternoon.Thursday 8 OctoberA slight chance of morning showers over the northern agricultural area. A medium to high chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting southwards during the afternoon, clearing by late evening. Cool grading to mild in the far west. Light to moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, tending moderate to fresh in the east and south.Friday 9 October A slight to medium chance of showers over Kangaroo Island and the South East districts, clearing during the afternoon. Cool in the south grading to mild to warm in the north and west. Light winds, tending moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly in the south. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Friday are expected to be 5 to 15 mm over much of the State, with patchy falls of 15 to 25 mm likely about parts of the northern agricultural area, Flinders, North East Pastoral and eastern border districts. Isolated falls to around 40 mm are possible, mainly about the Flinders and North East Pastoral districts. Saturday until MondayDry and warmer throughout with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033 Notice Board 31 additional forecast locations for SA Changes to state Weather and Warnings pages --> BoM is upgrading its IT systems in South Australia on Tuesday 5 December 2017.
