Desi Chickpea Continue Surge
PANAMA - May 17/24 - SNS -- Chickpea makets were unchanged to firmer during the past week, reflecting increased optimism over demand prospects during the remainder of the calendar year.
Desi chickpea markets continued to firm on account of expectations India's removal of import duties will result in a broad increase in shipments to that destination from Australia and other suppliers.
Kabuli chickpeas are also feeling some support because of thoughts demand for small caliber product could improve to the Indian subcontinent at a time when exports of medium and large kabuli chickpeas from India are faltering.
