Australia's Chickpea Exports Extend Soft Trend

PANAMA - Jun 6/24 - SNS -- Australia's shipments of chickpeas during April were well down, plunging versus the previous month, judging from data from Australia Bureau of Statistics.

Total shipments in the month amounted to 24,136 metric tons (MT), down 53% from the previous month's total of 50,932. So far shipments have reached 282,938 MT, down from 325,809 in the same period the previous marketing year.

The latest trade data reported Bangladesh was largest importer, taking 9,176 MT. United Arab Emirates was the second most important buyer taking 6,670 MT, followed by Nepal at 4,114 MT.
