Chickpeas Hold Mainly Firm
PANAMA - Jun 14/24 - SNS -- Global chickpea markets maintained their firm tone in relatively light trading activity during the past week.
Australian desi chickpeas have been leading markets since India announced they could be imported duty free through March 31, 2025.
However, with spot inventories limited, nearby markets eased during the past week, nearly erasing any premium spot markets had over new crop. Spreads have narrowed from a peak of AUD $80 per metric ton (MT) when India's decision was announced to around $20.
