Sugarcane Area Down 2%

WASHINGTON - Jun 28/24- SNS -- Area of sugarcane expected to be harvested for sugar and seed in the United States is 909,000 acres for the 2024 crop year, down 2% from last year, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2024.

Growers in Louisiana, the largest growing State in terms of harvested acres, are expected to harvest 515,000 acres, or 57% of the Nation's acreage.

Beginning in 2024, estimates for sugarcane were discontinued in Texas.
