VANCOUVER - Aug 1/24 - STAT -- Canada's speciallty crop crop dealer price index finished the 2023-24 marketing year slipping 4% below the recent three year average.
For the season just ended, the Special Crop Index was 108 points, compared to an annual average of 112 during the previous three year period for pulse and special crops included in the index calculation.
Analysis of the monthly price pattern reveals the highest monthly average was 113 points in May, while the lowest monthly average trading level was 101 points in August.
During the latest three year period, the highest monthly average trading level was 116 points in January, compared to the lowest monthly average of 103 points in July.
In the following tables, STAT Market Research shows the historic price patterns seen in Canadian inter-dealer markets. These are most obvious in the first table, which examines monthly averages as a percentage of the annual average return.
The data reveals the monthly average bid during the past marketing year, as well as for the previous three, five, and ten years. We also look at years where production was well below or well above the needs of the market.
