PANAMA - Aug 2/24 - SNS -- International chickpea markets finished the week's trading on a moderately firmer note, helped by price advances for large caliber kabuli and desi types.
Desi chickpea markets received some support from the India's third production estimate for its 2023-24 production cycle.
Output of all pulses was increased from its March forecast of 23.44 million metric tons (MT) to 24.49 million. This reflected the inclusion an estimated 1.89 million MT from this year's summer crop. On the other hand, the kharif harvest was decreased from 7.12 million in March to 6.86 million; and the rabi harvest from 16.33 to 15,75 million MT.
