Spot and New Crop Lentils Merge
PANAMA - Aug 9/24 - SNS -- International green lentils markets fell sharply in the past week in spo shipping positions against expectations this year's harvest will shortly become general.
The change put spot and new crop markets on a par. The shift in reds was less dramatic as spreads between spot and new crop shipping positions were always significantly smaller than was the case for greens.
Bulk loadings of lentils remined relatively strong in July, with crop year ending data from the Canadian Grain Commission revealing terminal and licensed elevators loaded 123,600 metric tons (MT) of bulk lentils for export during the month.
