PANAMA - Aug 16/24 - SNS - Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week trading on a mixed note, with Canadian markets continue to adjust to new crop priding levels and those in the United States responding to reduced production levels of some ingredients.
The latest USDA crop report did not update production estimates for birdseed ingredients, but a report from the Farm Services Administration (FSA) added some clarity to seeded area for some product.
The U.S. based National Sunflower Association reports, "In the initial . . . figures, oil-type sunflower planted acreage was pegged at 592,700 acres with confection acres at 121,100. FSA will update the acreage report in mid-September. USDA will provide their initial yield and production estimates for 2024 oil-type and confection sunflower crops in October."
