Turkey's Chickpea Exports Sustain Firm Tone
PANAMA - Aug 22/24 - SNS -- So far during the current calendar year are maintaining their firmer trend, with chickpea shipments from Turkey posted solid advances, advancing compared to the previous month in June, judging from official trade data from Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).
Total movement in the month amounted to 19,318 metric tons (MT), up 54% from the previous month's total of 12,540. So far exports have totalled 155,052 MT, up from 109,610 during the previous calendar year.
Current trade data reported Algeria was largest importer, buying 6,365 MT in the month. Iraq was the second most important destination buying 4,369 MT, followed by Lebanon at 1,575 MT.
