Few Changes In Dry Beans

PANAMA - Aug 23/24 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were easier to unchanged in seasonally light trading activity during the past week.

This was reflected in the U.S. dry edible bean price index which slipped 0.7 points on the week, closing at 92.9. Similarly, the global pulse price index dropped 1.1 points during the week to finish at 103.5 while the Canadian index was down 1.1 points at 87.6.

Processors and exporters in the United States remain dismayed by the railway situation in Canada. CN Rail reinsated service on Friday in reponse to an order from Canada's federal labor relations board. By contrast, the lock out by the CPKC Rail remained in effect. However, the union representing CN Rail conductors, locomotive engineers and other workers said they would return to the picket lines on August 26, again shutting down all railway operations in Canada.
