PANAMA - Aug 30/24 - SNS -- International chickpea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by price advances for large caliber Mexican origin kabuli and continued firmness in Australia desi.
With India less active in export markets and Mexico facing tight supplies of kabuli chickpeas, attention has been focussing on production prospects in other countries.
The USDA is expected to release its first estimate of output on September 12, with Canada following with its second model based forecast on the 16th. In the meantime Australia will update its desi chickpea estimates on September 3.
