Birdseeds Holding Firm
PANAMA - Aug 30/24 - SNS - North American birdseed ingredient markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, unaffected by preliminary production estimates for Canadian canaryseed.
Basing estimates on satellite and agroclimatic observations during July, Statistics Canada forecast output could approach 162,000 metric tons (MT) from 290,900 acres, up from 112,200 from 256,200 acres last year.
Ending stocks estimates for the 2023-24 marketing year will be released on September 9, followed by Statistics Canada's second production estimate on September 16.
