Dry Beans Cautious As Harvests Loom

PANAMA - Aug 30/24 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading largely unchanged, though markets remain cautious about pending North American harvest activity.

This was reflected in the U.S. dry edible bean price index which slipped 0.3 points on the week, closing at 92.6. Similarly, the global pulse price index eased 0.3 points during the week to finish at 103.5 while the Canadian index inched 0.1 points lower to close at 87.8.

Markets were unaffected by the latest production estimates for Canada. Preliminary, model based yield estimates suggest output will advance from roughly 376,000 to just over 388,400 metric tons (MT), with the potential for the North American harvest to advance from 1.14 to 1.5 million MT.
