Improved Sugarcane Yields
WASHINGTON - Sep 12/24 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed is forecast at 35.3 million tons, up 4% from last month and up 6% from last season in comparable States, according to the latest USDA production forecasts.
Producers intend to harvest 924,000 acres for sugar and seed during the 2024 crop year, up less than 1% from last month and up 1% from last season, in comparable States. Yields for sugar and seed are expected to average 38.2 tons per acre, up 1.2 tons from last month and up 1.6 tons from last season, in comparable States.
Beginning in 2024, estimates for sugarcane were discontinued in Texas.
