PANAMA - Sep 27/24 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were mostly unchanged, with shippers focussing on delivering product against opening season shipping commitments.
This was reflected in the U.S. dry edible bean price index which eased 0.7 points on the week, closing at 88.7. By contrast, the global pulse price index was unchanged during the week to finish at 104.5 and the Canadian index advanced one point to close at 92.2.
The quantity of new crop beans available to North American shippers continues to increase. The week started with 40% of the U.S. crop in the bin, suggesting 600,000 metric tons (MT) of new crop product was available, compared to 515,400 MT last year and the recent average of 508,000.
