PANAMA - Sep 27/24 - SNS -- Field pea markets managed a firmer close, helped by optimism shipments to India will remain strong through the end of the calendar year.
Though India's Agriculture Department asserts output of all food grains reached a record 332.298 million metric tons (MT) across the country's2023-24 production cycle, pulse production was down.
Output of all pulses was pegged at 24.25 million MT, including 6.97 million MT from the kharif season, 15.2 million MT of rabi season output and 2.08 million MT from India's summer harvest. Last year's total harvest was 26.06 million MT, down from the record 27.3 million grown in 2022-23.
