PANAMA - Oct 18/24 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were largely unchanged in seasonal trading activity during the past week.
Above average progress with this year's North America's dry edible bean harvests is reliving pressure on processors and exporters needing to meet short term shipping commitments. As the week got underway, the U.S. harvest was 87% complete, compared to 82% last year and the recent average of 80%.
With an estimated 1.26 million metric tons (MT) of new crop beans available, compared to previous five year average of 946,900 by the middle of October, the U.S. dry edible bean price index lose 1.2 points to finish the week at 92.1 points.
