Steady Week For Peas
PANAMA - Nov 15/24 - SNS -- International field pea markets finished the week's trading generally unchanged, with many exporters and importers more focussed on current shipping and receival commitments.
Markets in North America were relieved by the end of the container terminal shut downs in Canada. Though a large portion of export movement is on a bulk conventional basis and was unaffected, the brief labor actions resulted in some back ups for container shipments of both Canadian and U.S. exports.
The European Union's final yield and area estimates for field peas in France were reduced from prior numbers, with production now pegged at 337,000 metric tons (MT) from 120,000 hectares. Last year's harvest ended up at 484,800 MT from 152,000 hectares.
