Mixed Week For Chickpeas
PANAMA - Nov 15/24 - SNS -- International chickpea markets posted a mixed finish, with kabulis holding strong, while harvest selling in Australia pressured desi chickpeas lower.
Markets for both classes of chickpeas are keen to see December's updated production estimates for both Australia and Canada, due on December 3 and 5 respectively.
Exporters expect Australia's desi chickpea production estimate to be reduced from September's 1.33 million metric tons (MT) on account of weather challenges in parts of the growing area in advance of this year's harvests.
