PANAMA - Dec 6/24 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets remained mostly unchanged in seasonally light trading activity during the past week.
Statistics Canada released its final production estimate for 2024, pegging this year's harvest of all classes of mustard seed at around 192,300 metric tons (MT) from 606,300 acres, compared to 170,700 MT from 637,400 acres last year. It is also well below the September forecast of a 210,700 MT harvest.
Statistics Canadas survey of farmers once this year's harvest was largely complete, discovered that yields averaged 699 pounds per acre for all classes combined, well below provincial ideas of a 770 pound crop.
