Smaller Potato Harvest
WASHINGTON - Jan 10/25 - SNS -- Last year's potato harvest reached 420 million cwt (100 pound units), down 5% from the 2023 crop, according to the USDA's final production estimates for 2024.
Planted area, at 930,000 acres, was down 4% from 2023. Harvested area, at 925,400 acres, was down 4% from the previous year. The average yield, at 454 cwt per acre, was down 4 cwt from the previous year.
