PANAMA - Jan 13/25 - SNS -- International lentil markets had a muted reaction to the final production estimates for the United States.
As expected, output in 2024 was up sharply over the previous year, though there was a modest reduction in the estimated size of the crop from September's 445,000 metric tons (MT) forecast to 443,000 MT. Both numbers were up sharply from the previous year's 258,000 MT result.
The bulk of lentil output in the United States is green lentils. Given the size of the crop, imports, mainly from Canada, would be expected to decline from last season's 120,000 MT to around 99,000
