This edition of the Export Essentials statistical series includes special chapters on trade data for Russian pulses and specialty crops, as well as pulse and specialty crop import data for the United States.
Russia is a rapidly emerging and increasingly important competitor on international pulse markets. This month's edition presents export and import data for pulses and other special crops for 2011, 2012 and the period spanning January through September of 2013.
For its part, the United States has long been a net importer of mustard and canaryseed and other minor specialty crops and some classes of dry edible beans. Combining import date with latest export trade data helps build a more complete picture of the pulse and specialty crop trade in the United States. Such data is critical to seeing the opportunities of selling pulses and special crops to such an important gateway into the North American Free Trade Agreement zone.
